2MM: Exercise to grow your brain

2 Minute Monday

Hi Reader, it is time for your favorite read of the week yet again! This week I am discussing exercise regrowing your brain and something simple you can start doing today to protect your metabolism and keep your blood sugar balanced for your brain and body.

Hope you enjoy!

Exercise completely changes your brain. From the actual blood flow it receives, the hormones that get released, and the neurotransmitters activating.

All of it together contributes to a happier healthier brain with better memory and cognitive retention. We can see clearly that aerobic exercise is key in increased blood flow and it is shown in studies that it literally keeps your hippocampus larger than if you did not exercise. We also have evidence that weight training does the exact same thing, and that it contributes to an increase in activity and hormones that directly fight against aging.

Not to mention the effect that muscle has on your metabolic response and cellular energy production.

Point is, if you aren't moving, the goal is to just start wherever you can.

Blood sugar balance is one of the most important things for your brain health. It also heavily controls fat loss, inflammation, hormone production, and daily energy.

90% of balancing it comes from food. Though there are many small tactics that can help you do so outside of your food as well. One of my favorites to have my clients do as an add on to their day:

Walk directly after meals.

More specifically I point to walking after their biggest meal, which is typically dinner, if they cannot get it in after breakfast or lunch.

It can be as short as 5 minutes, the goal is simply to signal to your body that it is going to use the glucose it was given during your meal to help digestion and create a better balance of blood sugar and insulin for your cells.

This one trick has changed some of my clients entire evenings after dinner taking away that post dinner crash and leveling out their sleep!

It can be a powerful tool.
